Mark Mitchell is President of KSM Location Advisors. He has more than 25 years of experience negotiating federal, state, and local tax incentives on behalf of state and local governments, as well as representing retail, technology, commercial, and industrial clients throughout the United States.
Prior to joining KSM Location Advisors, Mark worked as chief economic development officer for Partnership Lake Houston where he represented multiple governmental jurisdictions in their economic development efforts. Prior to that, Mark served in various municipal, utility, state economic development and consulting roles in Michigan, Indiana, and Texas. His career includes serving as the CEO for a regional economic development corporation, senior manager with a Big 4 accounting firm, and senior vice president of government affairs for a renewable energy company. Mark has been successful in negotiating more than $800 million in property tax abatements, tax increment financing, job creation tax credits, finance grants, cash grants, and infrastructure grants for clients in multiple markets throughout the country.
Mark is a highly respected economic development professional who has received numerous state and local awards for community and economic development and has been asked to author a multitude of articles and speak on various topics related to economic development, workforce, and industry trends
Mark received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Indiana University and a Master of Business Administration from Anderson University.
Mark is a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Accredited Professional. He currently serves on the board for numerous organizations, including the Northeast Hospital Authority in Humble, TX, and Holy Trinity Episcopal School in Houston. He is a member of the Texas Economic Development Council and serves on the business advisory board for Lone Star College.
