An Oakland, Tennessee-based plastic container manufacturer expects to expand to Whitestown and hire 56 workers by the middle of 2026, town officials announced Wednesday.

Ring Container Technologies LLC plans to sign a 10-year lease and invest $77 million in an existing 400,576-square-foot warehouse at 5650 Belcher Way on about 39 acres in the Park 130 business park. The company’s investment includes $69 million in personal property and $8 million in real property at the plant.

“Whitestown’s location, workforce, and strong support from state and local partners make it the right choice for our continued growth,” Ring Container Technologies President and CEO Brian Smith said in written remarks. “We look forward to building a long-term presence in Boone County and contributing to the community.”

On Wednesday night, members of the Whitestown Town Council unanimously approved a five-year personal property tax abatement for Ring Container Technologies that will abate 100% in the first year, 80% in the second, 60% in the third, 40% in the fourth and 20% in the fifth.

Whitestown Town Council President Dan Patterson said at Wednesday’s meeting that Ring Container Technologies presents the type of industrial partnership that the town wants.

“Not only is it a town-friendly deal, but what you provide to the community, including good-paying jobs, the way you reinvest in the community, your commitment to be here for a while and you’re even getting into a building that’s already there speaks volumes, and it’s something I think we’ve been looking for,” Patterson said.

Founded in 1968, Ring Container Technologies has 20 manufacturing locations, including 18 in the United States. The Whitestown location will be the company’s first in Indiana.

Ring Container Technologies primarily serves the food and beverage industry. Employees will earn an average wage of $30 per hour and focus on injection stretch blow molding, which is used to manufacture items like plastic salad dressing containers.

“They serve food, beverage and household products with a strong track record of reducing their environmental impact through recycling and light weighting initiatives,” Boone County Economic Development Corp. CEO Andrea Kern told councilors. “They are exactly the kind of forward-thinking advanced manufacturing company that aligns well with Whitestown growing industrial base.”

KSM Location Advisors is pleased to have negotiated approximately $2.8 million in incentives for Ring Container Technologies.
